Lithium Niobate is an enabling material for the generation of powerful and strong field THz pulses. Advances in laser systems are continuously fueling new regimes of excitation for this material, opening new possibilities but also with many challenges. This two day focus workshop that will take place in Bochum, Germany on November 24th and 25th 2025 brings together leading experts in the field of THz generation to discuss the most pressing challenges in Lithium Niobate based THz sources. The workshop is on invitation only, but group members of the invited PIs are welcome to participate.
Topics will include (non exclusively):
- High energy THz generation
- High average power THz generation
- Optical nonlinearities in the optical and THz domain
- Photorefractive effects
- Fabrication of large aperture Lithium Niobate
- Etc.
